It’s not about photographic gear…

…it’s knowledge that counts.

One of my hobbies is wildlife photography (although the European Eagle Owl is called Harley and lives at the Bird of Prey Centre at Duncombe Park, Helmsley). And I confess that I had to look up the caterpillar after I’d taken the shot. (It’s a Puss Moth in case you’re wondering).

I recently bought a camera and lens to give me more reach given that most wildlife likes to keep it’s distance and I’ve really enjoyed using them. The thing is, both camera and lens are aimed at enthusiast (ie: non professional) photographers.  They’re much less expensive than the equivalent professional equipment. They’re also much lighter and so are easier to carry around and to handle.

Something that I’ve always maintained is that it’s not the equipment that’s important. There are lots of cameras and lenses out there that can produce high quality pictures in any genre of photography.

What matters is knowing how to use what you have to get the results that you want.

This is where I can help you through photography training.
